Telehealth FAQs

GIFTS uses Doxy.me, an online HIPAA-compliant platform, to connect with current clients. Below are helpful tools and instructions to understand doxy.me
-
Choose a location for your session that is quiet, private, and free of distractions.
If you are unable to find a private location, please notify your clinician if anyone else is in the room with you.
Check the internet connection, and battery life of your device. Call the office immediately if you have connection issues at the time of the appointment.
Plan appropriately to ensure that you will not be operating a moving vehicle while in session. Your therapist will reschedule the session if you are driving due to the safety risk.
Do not consume intoxicating substances before or during your telehealth session.
-
You will join the session at the scheduled time using the Doxy.me link sent to you via email by your clinician.
Your clinician will ask you to provide your current location to ensure that we can assist you in the event of an emergency.
Failure to provide a location could result in your appointment being canceled, as we would be unable to protect your safety in an unforeseen event.
-
You and your clinician will discuss whether you are a good fit for telehealth based on your symptoms or circumstances.
For example, a 4 year-old client with ADHD Hyperactive Type who is unable to sit and engage in telehealth or a client frequently hangs up or does not respond to electronic session invites may not be considered eligible for telehealth.
-
In person sessions may only be changed to telehealth during the 15 minute window for late arrival.
-
Yes! However, switching from a telehealth to in-person appointment within an hour of the appointment may not be possible depending on the location of the therapist. You should always contact the office first to inquire about changing the session type.
